“10 steps 2 your heart” contains the typical elements of the gothmetal standard (commercial) style of bands like Charon and For My Pain, except because the vocals are not the common low toned kind of singing, they are a little bit too high toned for a gothmetal male singer and sometimes it doesn’t even sound “maleish”. That’s why I recommend this album to open minded people, because even though the band has a great singer the lyrics and the voice make the singer sound like a woman; if you don’t tolerate cheesy bands like “HIM” you won’t tolerate this.
Even the title “10 steps 2 your heart” says many things about this album, by example, it is not the album for the extreme metal fan but more to the person who likes melancholic, romantic, depressed metal music. The album is definitely for people who seek feelings and catchy melodies, not exactly musician technical skills, especially because you won’t find great solos here, neither complicated guitar work nor impressive drumming. Some other elements of the sound are the atmospheric keyboards, and the riffs with palm muted distorted guitar.
Talking about the songs, there is an acoustic track and a cover of The Cult, nothing too impressive. In the other hand, one of the interesting songs is “Death is my rebirth”, for is the most dynamic one of the album, the rest are slower and more atmospheric. In my personal opinion, the best songs are “Aeteria” and “Intoxicate my heart”, very catchy melodies, which are actually some of the main differences between this album and the later work of the band. Despite that I accept that the next album got a better sound quality and better production but still it didn’t have as good songs as “10 steps 2 your heart”.
