Mumakil - Brutal Grind Assault

Brutal, Quick Grind Assault - 86%

Jay_Bee, November 4th, 2005

This is probably the best demo of the 2005. Take the energy of early Misery Index, the grind of Nasum, an excellent production (for and album, and even more for a demo!) and play it perfectly: you'll have this amazing Brutal Grind Assault, with 12 short and rageful tracks.

Nothing groundbreaking, nothing innovative, but a great riffing (it takes something from all the classical grindcore/death grind tradition, all mixed amazingly well: Terrorizer, Carcass, and on...) that will make you headbang from the beginning to the end.

Vocals vary from a growl a la Assuck to a screaming that reminds me a little of Brutal Truth, with the guy singing his balls off. The drum doesn't cover the other istruments (this release is produced better than Anatomy Is Destiny by Exhumed, I think), but blasts all the time relentless giving a great 'feeling' to the songs without being only "tatatatatatata" with useless blastbeats.

This could be the best album of the year. Is amazing that these guys produced and played such a great release as a demo: their future is bright.
