Hitman

The first demo from the Washington incarnation of Metal Church... this one isn't quite as good as the legendary Red Skies demo from '81, or the Four Hymns demo from later in '82, but it's still pretty decent. Again, it has the same problem as the Red Skies demo - it's all instrumental, but the songs were clearly written with vocals in mind. Otherwise, they're just a bit too repetitive. Also, "Hitman" just doesn't quite sound right with no vocalist screaming "IT WAS YOU!!!!"

The other two songs have no titles (Hitman didn't have a title at the time either - I think David Wayne came up with lyrics!) and pretty much sound enough like Metal Church to be recognisable, though there really isn't anything that sticks out as being part of a later song. They're pretty decent power metal, and for 1982 rather heavy, but again it's a matter of them lacking the vocals that make them sound a bit flat.

That said - if you can find this demo, go get it!
