I am really in love with these three new songs. Memoira has really shown that they have taken the progressive metal music that was showcased in their debut album and expanded it. There are many new elements clearly evident in these three songs. The band has shown that Kati Rantala is a great addition to the band and that she is able to carry on the great vocals that are so much a part of who Memoira is.
The music itself has evolved greatly and it is clearly evident. Memoira already had a solid sound on their debut, but these songs prove that they are a metal band that is a force not to be messed with. These new songs are great in experimenting with new sounds, like the double saxophone solo in Curtain Call or the piano/accordion duet in Nightingale. The songs don't really follow the standard verse/chorus/verse/chorus that has become so popular in the music of today. Each of the songs has something different about them that makes them special. For instance, Puppeteer is a duet between lead singer Kati and keyboardist Lassi (much like Shadow On My Name from their self-titled debut album). These songs are a great preview to what is sure to be an awesome symphonic/progressive metal album.
