It's such a rare treat to find something like this in the current underground death metal scene. This is traditional death metal - devoid of slamming brutality, melodic segments or core tendencies, and lone-member Jeremy Hambrick handles the style perfectly.
Having said that, you're probably going to hate this. The drumming is almost out of time, whether intentionally careless or just amateur I can't decide (I also can't figure out what the percussion is, it sounds like a drum machine but it's sloppy as hell), there is no easily detectable bassline (just a rumbling of noise which I presume is the bass sound and not just a cheap guitar amp on overdrive), every instrument is turned up far too loud giving way to an excruciating listen, and the songs often make little to no sense as far as structure goes.
What makes it so good then? This album is a fucking riffmonster, that's what makes it so good. Every individual riff is so malign, cruel and METAL IN CAPS but is also very memorable and catchy. This is old school death metal I can really get on board with, the only thing that Mangled Whore Flesh care about is really heavy and evil riffs, and delivering them in the most abrupt, forceful and noisy manner possible. 'She Died Like the Whore That She Was' is a big bag of delicious yet poisonous and razor-centered sweets. On first listen it's horribly unpleasant. By the time second listen swings round it suddenly becomes a beautifully disgusting ecstasy, a delectable feast of death metal madness.
It's pretty long-running but I can listen to this over and over (no joke, I've listen to this several times in a row in the past). You'll probably hate it, sure, but you shouldn't. I'm a cynical guy, and although it might be contraversial I'd say that this and a handful of Bob Elger projects are pretty much the only current old-school sounding death metal that you should really care about. There might be the odd gem crop up here and there but it's doubtful that they'll beat this in levels of concentrated win.
