Make Them Suffer

Man, this really is that bad. I honestly think this would be a lot better if it was a straight up deathcore release. The vaguely symphonic haunted house keyboards just don't work here. They are trite and ultimately irritating. The passages backed by keyboards and lackluster blasts sound utterly weak. The purely deathcore sections are alright, but this demo as a whole is just not worth listening to in any way, shape or form. It's just bad, trendy watered down pseudo-metal with little to offer in terms of redemption.

The actual riffs here are definitely lame. They are completely disposable and sometimes are even slightly reminiscent of metalcore. The breakdowns are decent, some are really good, but generally it's average - which is something very much above the rest of the release. There are just too many damn sections lead by pounding drums and creepy melodic keyboards. Keep in mind that the normal vocals are still going on over this. It just sounds weak and unconvincing. The vocal approach is completely predictable - yet another duo of harsh vocalists where one is raspy and one is guttural. The guttural vox work is decent enough, but the high pitched ones are horrendous. They sound like a witch hissing.

The songwriting is whatever, it's there. Not horrendous, not great - just there. This just seems like another trendy band with little substance. The slower breakdowns were the only thing remotely worth listening to here. The production is far beyond what you'd expect from a demo. It feels very professional, squeaky clean, polished and ultimately sterile. This whole thing just comes off as very safe. I suppose that the creepy keyboards instead of guitars is trying something somewhat interesting, but it just doesn't work out - they pull it off in pretty much the lamest and inoffensive ways ever.

This demo treads the line between boring and annoying. This is padded out by too much bullshit keyboards. It would serve as an adequate tool for fleshing out the atmosphere, but it just doesn't know when to hold back. A few well done breakdowns are literally the only thing of any value here. If this was straight up deathcore it would probably be to some extent passable, but this is just trash. Being infinitely worse than silence, this is definitely not worth checking out even if you're a fan of the genre.
