"Finally" can be the word to describe the feeling I felt when I realized this EP was finally coming out. I was waiting for quite some time for it to happen, so you can see I was quite pleased with such news. It turned out to be everything I expected to be: a very nice EP and a premonition of good death metal to come.
It is but a little sample of what they are able to do in the future, for the album involves pretty much everything you'd wait from a death (with some trashy moments) metal album. Great work in the riffs, which are most of the time in the lower notes. Yet, they, once or twice, reach higher notes, creating other type of beautiful leads. The growls are pretty good, blending between some moments pending more on screams and other moments pending on old school growls, which is a very good thing and the drums are pretty good, with several parts in the EP where the double drum pedal goes really wild (and we like to see that in death metal). But the thing that really caught my attention was the bass: these guys knew how to enhance it, and they did it well, very well actually. Most of the bands keep their bass pretty much like an instrument to be going along with the rest of the band, without standing out, and that, sometimes, is not that good to see. Once again, I was delighted to know that this was not the case, and that gave them a lot of points in my consideration.
In terms of production, it is not a Wintersun-like production job, but that is not what was asked, to begin with. The sound in "Vengeance Through A Dying World" is much better than a bunch of some band's debut albums, yet the sound keeps being very natural, without being overproduced, which is often good to evaluate the band's quality, and that is due to the fact that some bands that master their albums too much tend to be less fantastic when entering in the stage, tend not to correspond to some of the expectations. But that won't happen with Madame Violence. Production: checked.
So, as you can see in this quick review, "VTADW" is, most likely, a very good starting point for a band that is now starting to gain some international consideration. Madame Violence know what they do. They know how to do good sounding death metal, because most of them are pretty accustomed to having other bands. The place won't be such a dying world if these guys can stand out in the metal scene. No, the world won't be that dim. It would actually be a very pleasant world to live in. Yes, it would.
