The first time I listened to this work I remember it was in the short time I had from home to high school, those were simpler times where my knowledge of the metal world didn't go beyond Megadeth, Slayer and some songs from Cannibal Corpse and Gorgoroth that would be my first incursions into the most extreme metal, so when I found out about the existence of a band called Machetazo from my own city and that they were a worldwide reference in their little subgenre it didn't take me long to want to listen to them, even though I had never heard anything about grindcore. Somewhere i read that "realmente disfruto comiendo cadaveres" was the work that had made them gain relevance, so I jumped into the adventure without much more information.
Surely seeing the theme I was expecting something like Cannibal Corpse but to my surprise what I found were chaotic songs and very very short duration, it seemed that they wanted to sound bad on purpose, the song titles were in spanish but except for two or three words I could not understand absolutely nothing, a lot of time was invested in audios of movie scenes that I did not recognize and most of the songs seemed to play fast and senseless. Even so, I liked the demo from the very beginning, even though most of the time what I found was senseless there was something incredibly appealing in all that collection of songs that lasted between ten seconds and two minutes that made the demo something that I would still listen to regularly, but it is now when, after having expanded my musical horizons, I understand much better and enjoy this work even more.
To begin with, Machetazo's sound in this early period was much closer to noisecore than to grindocre as such can be seen in songs like "Metadona infantil" or "Obsesion morbosa (devoro tu costra asquerosa)" which really show an intention closer to creating an oppressive and unpleasant sound without showing a structure as such, even so in the longer songs (2 minutes wow) we find a sound much closer to the deathgrind that they would later develop in their career and you can really appreciate that they were already able to write good riffs, in fact originally this kind of sound was my favorite part of the demo although with time I have been appreciating others more and more, like the use of maracas (which as we all know are made by baby bones) in "Carnaval carnaval, el cadaver huele mal" which is already the peak of absurdity in the whole demo, but it manages to make me laugh out loud.
Certainly it's something I have to mention, every time I listen to this demo it gets funnier and funnier, it's full of elements that make it hilarious to listen to, starting with the titles that are a perfect game of taking the most unpleasant and disgusting words of the spanish language to get the most disgusting phrases possible, and the fact is that the titles better be funny because they will be the only lyrical content you will find in this demo since there are no lyrics, you are not listening to the singer pronouncing words with extreme gutturality, he is making noises and in the more marked noisecore songs this becomes so evident and exaggerated that you can't do nothing but laugh. And then there are the fragments of movie audios, this part I think that gains only if you are from Spain because they are fragments of foreign horror movies dubbed for the public from here, and while this makes them sound less natural the fact that they are dubbed makes the voices sound so exaggerated, dramatic and of poor quality that makes it much funnier than if it were the original, in fact I've heard them so many times that I've ended up learning them by heart and using phrases from these audios day by day.
All this mixture of variety, obscenities, gore and laughter makes up "realmente disfruto comiendo cadaveres" a crazy demo that reaches great heights of voluntary comedy. The musical quality? Well I've heard much worse and here all the elements connect and make the experience beyond entertaining and varied. A 100 for the laughs it provokes me, and everything subtracted for the music and production.
