Decent split - 90%

Vlad_Tepes, March 22nd, 2004

I won't complain about the lack of songs, or the length of the release. Just take the three songs as they are. Stripped down, raw black metal in it's purist form. Mutiilation starts it off with an excellent song. Grinding guitars, shrieking vocals, blasting drums. an overall malicious, hideous sound. Great track. Onto the two songs by Deathspell Omega. This is where the split really picked up for me, Deathspell being one of my favorites. As always, they deliver solid, depressing black metal. Little variation, abrasive to the ears with that beautiful sense of sorrow and utter pain. The repetitive, sad riffing creates a fantastic ambience similar to Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger. Recommended.
