Lords of the Stone were promising, but sadly, short lived band. One of their claims to fame was that they featured one time 'The Gathering' singer Martine Van Loon.
For starters the production is alright at best. The music is original with semi-epic attitude. The guitars aren’t' terribly heavy but they do get the job done. There is even a pretty decent solo towards the end. The bass sounds alright for what is does. The same goes for the drums. The keyboards add a great amount of atmosphere throughout the release. They go from creepy and dark to more up beat sporadically.
The vocals are perhaps the selling point of the band as Andre Dijkstra has an interesting take on singing. He sounds like a mix of one part Lee Dorian (Cathedral) and two parts Kronos (Venom). He tends to sound more like Kronos however with a blend of rough, clean and somewhat deathly tones.
Martine sounds off on the first song, but sounds good on the rest of the CD. These two together sound surprisingly good. The music isn't that complicated but it is complex. The music is laid back, straight forward Doom Metal. This is very original and worth hunting down.
