Lord Wolf - Awaking the True Face of Darkness

Very bad sound - 35%

girionis, April 16th, 2008

This demo is bad. Where can I start? First of all the production; it is at amateur levels. The sound of the guitars is really turned down, you can hardly hear them, and there is no bass at all (if there is they have managed to hide it pretty well). The drums and cymbals are very loud, covering everything else up, except the voice. Maybe the only thing that meets the production standards is the voice (which reminds me a lot of Burzum) although sometimes it gets highly pitched.

Compositions; pretty much standard. Standard riffs, standard rhythmical parts, uninspired song structures. It's like listening to any black metal band out there. The only decent thing about this demo is that they try make it sound dark and atmospheric in the intro and outro (by using keyboards and whispering voices). And to some extend this works. Other than that they are probably making some effort to sound nice and write good songs, but the bad sound covers everything up. Maybe if the production was better you could hear what is really played behind the drums, but not under these circumstances.

They might have better luck if they improve their production and their song writing. But not for now.
