Finnish heavy metal maniacs Lord Fist are back with their second album.
Bounding in with lively melodies and pounding drums, we immediately see a glorious vision of pure metal might spring into life with powerful vocals and superb musicianship. The storming harmonies take the classic heavy metal sound and breathe a firm reassurance that all is alive and well as Lord Fist belt out passionate rippers of fiery and masterful musicianship. Speeding on, the mood of glory and triumphant return is infectious, as is the beautifully crafted sonic swordsmanship displayed with utter brilliance. Blistering lead work and vanquishing rhythms enwtine for an intense and uplifting experience of furiously epic heavy metal that hits hard and fast from the onset as the continual eruptions of powerful, killer music remain consistent.
Bellowing on, the thunderous roar of steel continues to envelop all with scolding majesty that invokes the 80s classics while never feeling too derivative to lack personality. There is a bittersweet and sombre approach to the chord progressions in quite a few tracks that allows a dynamic Iron Maiden would be proud of to progress into something phenomenal. On the whole though we see a battle-ready and victorious sound take the main stage that has as much complexity and tight musicianship as it does anthemic qualities, ensuring this music kills in studio and will do so live as well. The contrasting pieces flow elegantly while Lord Fist do not fall into the trap of each song sounding identical, powering through the record with courage and self-assuredness that is earned by being so damned talented.
The monolith grows and takes many interesting pathways into melodic brilliance that drives out so much power that it is impossible not to adore the finesse and simplistically fist-pounding heavy metal equally. Dancing and radiant songs seem to flow endlessly and effortlessly from these riff-juggernauts with impressive shredding and constantly hard-hitting drums making for a daunting instrumental section from start to end which is a requirement to deliver the haunting vocals with such efficiency. You will no doubt find yourself revisiting this album many times, each with more nuances noticed as betwixt the ferocity there is so many nooks and crannies of Metal magnificence that deserve your attention and exploration.
This is one of those albums I feel I do not need to “big up” as a few seconds in, most people will find themselves totally absorbed in the fantastic realms that Lord Fist conjure to life so vibrantly. See for yourself!
