Lobotomy Dept - New World Coma

The world needs more industrial metal. Especially in times like these. As technology runs amok, as society breaks down, as humanity off-loads itself into the cloud, industrial metal roars back to remind that said machines are evil, that we need to break the machines. Lasse Pyykkö of Hooded Menace and Rogga Johansson from Paganizer have responded to this need, this gaping void only recently refilled by the re-activation of bands like Godflesh. Lobotomy Dept is a four-song side-project that delivers a succinct shot of early-90's style industrial metal adrenaline.

"Endtimer" laces its mechanized death-thrash with pitch-shifted vox, skittery samples, and concrete weight heaviness, sounding like a perfect Point Blank era Nailbomb excerpt. "Controller Breeder" sounds like Godflesh used to sound: slow, heavy, bio-mechanical, dissonant psychedelia with that clear, off-time drum machine hi-hat metronome ticking like the doomsday clock in the background. Lobotomy Dept basically alternate these two templates, sometimes mashing them together, with great success. If the era of Godflesh, (early) Scorn, Dead World, (early) Pitchshifter, and Fetish 69 is one you pine for and want back desperately, well, Lobotomy Dept brings it back, and just in (end) time too.
