Leather Glove - Skin on Glass

Conduit of Misery - 75%

Thumbman, December 17th, 2016

Hey, what do you know this random sludge/crust/death/whatever demo is actually pretty cool. Leather Glove's Skin on Glass has surprisingly decent production for a demo, with the guitar sounding pretty damn thick and big. The riffs are generally pretty cool, ranging from crusty bangers, ominous sludge crawls (that one on the title track slays) and death metal ragers. There's a potent atmosphere lingering, with the slow burning howl of the leads being particularly killer. While they are great at pumping up the adrenaline and going all out with the banger riffs, their at their best when they slow down and let you get lost in an ocean of haunting murk.

While there are a few demos I'd consider classic, it's not rare for even a great band's first demo to bite the big one. Rest assured, this is not the case here. From the Lord Mantis-esque schizophrenic crawl of "Conduit to Misery", to thrashy banger in "Rods of Steel" (lol) to the sludgy mindfuck ending to "Skin on Glass" there's lots of good shit to be found here. I'll keep this brief and to the point since there's barely over ten minutes of music anyway - this kicks vastly more amounts of ass than the average demo and if anything I described sounds like it would be up your alley, definitely head over to Leather Glove's Bandcamp.
