Love Half Defined - 50%

Petrus_Steele, September 5th, 2019
Written based on this version: 2016, 7" vinyl, Roadrunner Records (Limited edition)

Originally recorded during the latest album's session, Incarnate. Define Love's melodies and catchy riffage sounds like it belongs to one of Howard's records, though with the background death growls and Jesse's screaming, as well as the very strong bass tune and drumming, this overshadows that idea. Incarnate has three bonus tracks, and I think this song should've ended as the fourth one, but it is what it is, I guess.

While it's recorded very well from all instrumental aspects and Jesse sounds very good, the song kinda feels like it's mainstream and pretty generic, despite all of its heaviness. Judging by the sound alone, I'm sure the band could've recorded something much better, as well as giving it some extra length. The lyrics, too, look quite simple and uninspiring. I think it has the potential but not by much. At least the mix and instruments are done right.
