Killing Machine - Killing Machine

You don’t need this, I don’t need it, no one does. - 33%

Every once in a while one comes across an album that should not have been released. But it’s even worse when that album is crafted by such talented guys and they do what seems like their worse effort ever. Killing Machine’s self-titled debut is such an album. Bass and drums are handled by W.A.S.P. guys and provide nothing special at all. The bass would be noteworthy for the fact that I’ve got no complaint for it. It’s not worse than one can stand it though, even if the rhythms get very monotonous after the first twenty seconds of the songs. Then the same metallic clashing follows in the same four-cycle beat forever.

This is marketed as heavy metal, but some pr man forgot to add shitty to the description. Take the guitarist, Peter Scheithauer, most known for being a part of Belladonna’s solo project. In this mid-tempo land with double bass he sticks just to riffing, something he know how to do. It’s sad thing that he doesn’t experiment at all – or try playing different riffs – or at least tries some more complicated riffs. He’s basically playing the most fundamental thrash riff over and over again.

This’d be enough already for everyone but the die-hardest of Mike Vescara’s die-hard fans and anyone into self-masochism. The masochists can keep this counterfeit of traditional heavy metal, but I suggest even Vescara’s bravest and devoted fans to stay clear of this one. Imitating so many people is not good for your health, something that Mike’s voice proves. He’s become shrieky and whiny – when screaming. If it wasn’t for the power he still has he would’ve been on par with the vocalist of a punk nu-metal band I saw at my school once.
