Killers - Assault on South America

It's good - 75%

This live document of Paul Di'Anno playing his home-continent is an interesting little packadge. The band cook live, blasting through well known songs to a packed room of Maiden/Di'Anno fans. The production is good, the key thing to note is the absolutely bonkers crowd who are howling and whistling throughout the whole show. It makes Paul seem as if he's still a tad bit popular! (Though the constant similar whistles make one wonder if the crowd is dubbed in on a loop unknown to the band...though it's quite possible they just like to whistle a LOT.) The vibe is one of Paul having a good time, the crowd having a good time and the thing a document of happy performance.

The song selection is split between Battlezone and Iron Maiden...with some rare Iron Maiden songs popping up out of the blue. The crowd reaction brings this CD to life as you can hear the crowd going NUTS througout this. While the songs aren't anything new...the band and crowd lock together to make this work. There is nothing really new here...but nothing offensive either. (Oddly though...no Killers songs...)

All Di'Anno fans should purchase this, all people critical of his constant "rehashing" of past glories should stay away. Even so, I'm going to listen to this at least once every few months...
