Ira - Guerreros clandestinos

A Mexican classic - 97%

Nojoch Akab, August 7th, 2013

Ira are a mexican band. Their style is uncommon in a country where there are few power metal bands. Their music is great because this album "Guerreros Clandestinos" contains thirteen songs which not generate boredom or deception; instead they promote emotions as anger, resentment and desire to fight.

Ira combines fast and slow songs. While the power metal is characterized by speed, Ira slows their pace for to generate interesting expectations by using unusual instruments as violin in the song entitled “Justine”, an interesting master piece. Another song that follows rhythm changes is "Gladiator", which slows to play a charming guitar solo and culminates with such a fury that spread easily to the listener. In this case, Gladiator’s music lives up to its name.

The vocalists’ voices are sharp and achieve high intonations very well. In this brief review I congratulate Adam and Ivan Moreno, who apparently are brothers. Their performances are so emotive both in their vocal solos and in their choruses. For example, in "Guerreros Clandestinos" and "Lluvia Ácida", two songs where they sing together and apply the counterpoint technique that allow them to make voices more harsh and full of courage.

This album would not be as good if not for the guitarist's talent. The song "Lo que más duele" is for me the best, because it begins with a memorable riff that repeats at the song’s middle and it becomes an exciting guitar solo. Due to its musical virtue I chose it as my favorite.

"Guerreros Clandestinos" has a bonus track entitled "Debajo de los cielos púrpura", a Transmetal's cover that is faster and clearer in its voices. From my point of view here the album ends very well. For me, the purchase of this CD has been an honor, it has become one of my favorites and I recommend it fully. I haven't heard another Ira’s albums yet, but I imagine them as good as this. Until that happens, I want to declare that "Guerreros Clandestinos” is to me a classic of Mexican heavy metal, definitely.
