Inure is a hard band to give specifics about. They play a style of death/thrash that is ultimately modern and melodic. Inure is very unique, it's safe to say I don't know of any band that i could compare them to. The music is full of tempo/rhythm changes, acoustic/clean vocal breaks, catchy riffs and diverse vocal attacks; even a few chugga-chugga parts.
The album opens with a very pretty and sombre instrumental track with acoustic guitars and a cello(?). It's a very melodic and rhythmic track that is structured very well and contains a great break(starts at 2:55) in which one guitar runs a set of chords while another plays individual notes, all the while the cello and bass build up and the drums play a calm hi-hat pattern; it's a very moody track. This might even be my favorite track on the album, very interesting stuff. While the band throughout the album refers back to such a style, it is sparse.
Inure utilizes two singers, a male who does deep guttural vocals and a female who does beautiful clean vocals along with raspy mid-to-high pitched screams. The vocals are top notch, and one of the best parts of this album. Along with the vocals, the guitars do a great job. They are very well thought out and constructed. The acoustic passages are soothing and pleasant while the electric guitars churn out catchy, melodic riffs; one after another. There are plenty of harmonized leads and parts where the two guitars weave in and out of eachother and complement eachother very well; this is another highpoint of the album. The bass plays the center role in the acoustic passages; which is very nice.
Inure does a very good job in creating melodic, catchy, heavy, music not without a sense of emotion and even atmosphere at times. As I said earlier, this band is quite unique and very enjoyable to listen to. I hope they put out more material.
