-Sex & death-thrash-
Here we have the short two song demo from an early Brazilian band named Insulter from Belo Horizonte. This band would be later turned into Sextrash: The master's of sleaziness. With a song called 'Fuckin'' who would dare dethrone them.
This demo either due to musicianship or poor production sounds really hectic. Often having each instrument continually pounding different combos through your speakers and possibly influencing and blackening your medulla oblongata. Insulter comes at a cross between other extreme acts such as Holocausto and Sarcofago. Playing at a really chaotic style that is actually almost a grindy death metal here. The guitars still retain a coined trait of strumming one chord extremely fast and spazzing out on a few notes to only return to the starting position. Probably better known to Butcher from Sarcofago. The drums from what I can decipher play at hyper speed for the time era. Often giving the snare a heavy beat down with blasts and stretching outside of his ability level with 'fills that can't be filled'; try that mock-Chinese parable on for size. The vocals are ridiculously out of control for '87. He has loads of delay attached and uses it to project his voice in random areas. He alternates between deep, slurred growls and raspy yells, possibly trying to imitate and top his favorite horror movie anti-heroes to frightening degrees. Boggling minds and bulging eyes from their former sockets is more like it.
This demo is reckless in a way and sounds like a partial tape recorded rehearsal with overdubs added later. However we get to see pre-Sextrash at an experimental stage in their earlier days, already bringing out an outrageous mentality that will be molded more so on their EP and full length. The first song 'Black Church' is an early track that will later be a swinger to the group's full length debut 'Sexual Carnage.' Unfortunately, I can only recommend seeking after this for historical value and if you're curious to see where the band came from with their extreme sounding brand of music. Because this is at such a pre-stage that it wouldn't be worth it otherwise. (Next review: Necrofago - Desire For Blood)
