The second release of Chilean Heavy Metal Masters is amazing!!
The structures of "Black Leather From Hell"'s songs contains dark passages, fury, passion and speed. It makes me remind the old works of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond's "Abigail"; the sound isn't the same... but the influence in Manolo's writing and Freddy's singing is pretty clear.
The first track caught me immediately. "Dragonslayer" is the clearest show of the power of this classic band. The guitar is terrific... speedy and darkly at the same time. The lyrics are about the Middle-Earth legends.
"Black Leather From Hell" song is incredible. A Heavy Metal hymn. It shows the passion of these musicians for their love's music. Manolo's guitar is demolisher... "fast and furious" like Hank Shermann or K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton. Carlos and Cristián's drum/bass base is solid and intense.
The third track is one of the most acclaimed songs of the recording. "Army Of Darkness" is the clearest prove of Inquisición's quality... dark lyrics, strong bass/drum base and a smashing guitar with dizzy and speedy solos. A great song... maybe a classic of Chilean Heavy Metal.
"Midnight Avenger" and "The Axis Of The Mist" provide evidence of a slower face of the band. Those songs with the eighth track "Devil Mistress" shows a most nostalgic sound... slower than the rest of the disc. The bass' sound has a more importance in the sound. Vocals are very good. One more time, Manolo's guitar is the starring of these “horror dark movies”.
“Witchcraft” is the typical King Diamond’s writing influence in Freddy’s way to compose. The lyric’s figures are witches and curses in the company of a strong guitar. Excellent track. One of my favorites.
Finally, “Extermination” is the Thrash/Speed/Black Metal influence’s song, but with the Inquisición’s own Heavy/Dark sound. Incredible guitar, strapping bass, fast drums and good vocals are the components of this bomb of fury and speed.
“Mensaje Oculto” is the Spanish version for “Message In Black” from “Steel Vengeance” 1996’s album. With a new instrumental sound and lyrics about H.P. Lovecraft’s work, this song is probably my favorite song of one of my favorite bands.
This album is an obligation for the Heavy Metal maniacs. I have my “Black Leather From Hell”. Do you have your copy?
