Inanimentum - Incantations and Rites

Demo Material at Its Finest - 75%

Inanimentum are (according to this site) an active atmospheric black metal band from the Ukraine. I must say, the band are (or is because it seems to be one member) incredibly talented. And has a very awesome-like, melodic style 'n theme, generally. Almost-no available information about them currently. So, I'm afraid this might have to be a considerably short review. So, let it happen!

You have really nice, almost perfect audio-related sound. Not the traditional black metal production as a change. I'd classify this demo to be almost "gold" because of how neatly and awesome it sounds. It actually captures some nice emotions. You know, it'll be a little sad if the band dies out early. Hell, who knows? This could be a long-term band, that be nice. It be wasteful if the band only lasted under ten years, you feel me...son?

I enjoyed this band almost-instantly. You know a band are good, if they can please you and continue to throughout their whole release. Just note though, this is still, to me, an average release, but a damn solid one. The guitars are so atmospheric and melodic, it reminds me of background music from a dark-related film, with a lot of heavy-ass murders. It's kind of like...chill-related, serial-murder-music. The riffs are so smooth and ghostly. Keyboards are just a bonus at this point.

The bass is nicely mixed 'n mastered into every track. There's no heavy distortion. And just in general, I wouldn't classify this as "lo-fi". This release was treated really well by their creator. It's almost like a child being taken care of. The bass is in the background and it's so-well-balanced into the tracks. It's almost perfectly comfortable to hear without having your ears ache or have your speakers being blown needlessly.

The drumming is very nice. A lot of verity, not just thumping the bass-kicks or snare-happy. Everything is being used and it's being used within moderation. And it just fits so well. The symbols have a nice, crisp sound. You wouldn't think this is demo material, but apparently it is.

The vocals are good, but a little funny as well. I think it sounds like the guy from Dimmu Borgir, the guy from Silencer or just a sickly individual who's trying not to vomit crispy cereal. I think this vocalist does a better job at sounding like the fool from Dimmu Borgir, than the actual guy himself from that band. So, raspy, slimy and enraged vocals. It's like Emperor Palpatine is having a literal fit because Darth Vader is a fuck-up.

This band...are literally better than most black metal bands who're in the scene today. Easily, project is amazing. If the band releases another record (of any sort), I'd like to listen again. I'd recommend this to anyone, without doubting it. Like, come on...you have all these no-talent, big stars in the music scene today, and they're just shit. This band is actually good...with an amazing image in their minds. Music is good for the soul...and the soul is good for music.
