Eyes of the Archetype

In Arkadia is a melodic death metal band playing out of Lyon, France. In Arkadias members are, Benjamin Deyeyan on Bass, Florent Marzais on Drums, Jérémy Lagrabe on Guitar, Paul Richard on Guitar, and Alix Jeanguillaume as the Vocalist.

In Arkadia released Eyes Of The Archetype under the label of M&O Music on February 13, 2003.

Stylistically the band models Eyes Of The Archetype after bands such as Children Of Bodom and In Flames. They prove to be up to the task and deliver an album worthy of their idols. It begins with a crushing track, Behold The Whore. Chanelling their inner In Flames they blast away at you with crushing riffs and blazing fast solos. Couple that with a Alexi Laiho like scream and you should have an idea of the direction they're heading. If you can't guess I'll give you a hint, It's heavy.

Without giving to much of he album away I will tell you about my two favourite songs on the album. The first one is Sigmatropic, this track forces you to head bang right if the start with the guitairs firing on all cylinders. Florent Marzais drumming is beastly, you can hear the drums blasting in our chest and head all track. Add in some of the best screaming you will ever hear, and you get Sigmatropic. One hell of metal song.

Next one on the list is, Of Evolutive Disorder. This track starts relatively similar to Sigmatropic, however instead of the guitairs and their blazing speed dictating the pace, the drums rythmic blasting is what sets the pace. Adding Alix Jeanguillaume's high pitched and guttural screaming it makes for a perfect melodic death metal track.

In Arkadia are a rather unknown and underrated band, they do however have ten thousand fans on Facebook, I still believe that number should be way higher in comparison to their skill. So in the end I would highly recommend giving Eyes Of The Archetype a listen, especially if you're fan of either Children Of Bodom or In Flames.
