Iced Earth - Enter the Realm of the Gods

Alright Track List... Unbelievable Cover Art - 60%

Flamos, June 13th, 2008

A normal compilation will have the bands best songs on the release from their career or certain decades. This one takes very early songs from “Enter the Realm” to one of their newer releases, “Tribute to the Gods.” When you forge these two, you create “Enter the Realm of the Gods.”

As with most compilations, if you’re a hardcore fan of the band, this release is probably be under the radar, as it should be. There’s nothing special on this release to a die-hard fan. But if you haven’t heard either “Enter the Realm” or “Tribute to the Gods”, well, this is for you. The first six tracks are great. “Colors” and their self-titled track “Iced Earth” are great and considered some of their best. If you’re a fan of covers, you’ll probably enjoy the second half of this album. All of them are performed well, especially Iron Maiden’s “Hallowed Be Thy Name”. The vocals are great, just like the original, and they give it the patent Iced Earth feel.

If you’re a collector, I’d purchase it for the unbelievable artwork and to complete an Iced Earth collection, but if you’re just a casual fan and heard all these songs before, don’t even give it a listen. It brings nothing new to the table.
