I.N.R.I. - Hyper Bastard Breed - 78%

Harachte, October 23rd, 2004

I had never heared of INRI (which means ‘'Insane Non-commercialized Rock Institute') before until I found out that this band was previously known as Stigmatheist which released an album (“It all ends today”) a couple of years ago. After some heavy line-up changes “Hyper Bastard Breed” is their first effort after the band changed their name. And it looked as though they were thinking, hey, let’s save some time and make a brutal piece of music.

They succeeded. INRI deals out 15 explosive pieces of mayhem which sometimes remind of bands like The Crown or God Dethroned (slower parts) and they sure don’t hold back in the blastbeat department as well which, combined with the fairly good production, makes its’ mark well. Catchy riffs make a closing argument.

I don’t personally like the vocals too much but that’s just a matter of taste.
Does INRI something new? I don’t think so. But it doesn’t matter at all because the fans of ‘fast ‘n’ furious’ can –again- rejoice at another Dutch band and it has become quite clear that when it comes to extreme Metal, this little patch of land called Holland has certainly something to say for itself.
