Human Mincer - Embryonized

Hey, not too shabby. - 77%

Spawnhorde, August 9th, 2004

The previous reviewer is correct in drawing a line to earlier Disgorge. But, while Human Mincer do sound a lot influenced by Cranial Impalement, they're also sort of unique in their own way.

What does this album dish out? Really heavy riffs, pretty technical at times, sloppy at others, but not that bad. Good basslines. Cool hooks. The vocals need a bit of work, but they're decent enough--guttural growls ala...you guessed it...Disgorge! The band sounds like Devourment if they were given riffs that weren't slams 80% of the time and they took away a tiny tiny bit of Devourment's signature brutal groove.

All of the songs, though, if listened to in order, tend to BLEND TOGETHER. This one problem is the bane of this album's existence (as well as the...more forgivable 'originality factor'). If only the songs sounded a bit different...I mean there are some cool chunk riffs on this album, but let's face it, they tend to be recycled.

All problems aside, if you like your death metal groovy and incomprehensible, this is the album you want to add to your collection. Pick it up if you are a die-hard brutal fan, are looking for something similar to Disgorge and Devourment with some great speed bursts and thrashy riffage at times, or are just wanting to headbang for a half hour (which is all this album gives you). Have fun, and don't break your neck.
