What we have here is uninspiring death metal with a lot of modern influences in their instrument playing. The vocals are pretty average death metal vocals, and I wouldn't prefer them any other way.
The guitar play really shows traces of modern guitar playing. Very prententious melodic death metal is the best I can do to describe the guitar's sound. I mean, it really sounds kind of pathetic because of the extreme influences from nu metal and hardcore.
In the second track, you can really hear how the drummer definitly doesn't want to do something other drummers haven't done. His playing lacks originality, so much in fact, that it makes you feel sorry for him. He also fails at creating the right mood with the double bass drums.
When HGD decides to get a little groovy with their riffs, they cannot compose it together. It sounds awful, most like due to the others keep playing the same, and doesn't change the riffs so they can get along with the groovy guitarplaying. I am getting really annoyed over this guitar playing, the distortion they have just doesn't fit in with the rest, how on earth can they not hear that? For their own sake, they better change the distortion before they release an album.
I read a little about them and they claim to have punk rock influences. Where? If by 'punk' they mean 'modern rock and hardcore' they are right. Otherwise I can't really find anything punkish. Well, two of them kind of look like fags, so that might the connection to punk.
To strengthen their attack of moderness on death metal as we know it, they have also showed moderness on their logo and cover. The fact that the cover is just boring doesn't matter that much considering it is only a demo, but still pretty boring considering it is a metal album cover. But their logo font screams antimetal. It hurts my eyes when I see that kind of font.
Either these guys should grow some balls (and hair on their head), or they should split up and let the vocalist and bassist join other bands where they can actually use their talents and compose songs that aren't ruined by awful guitarplaying and drumming. I cannot see them go anywhere but down hill when I heard this.
