Hortor - Demo 2004

A horrible sound - 25%

boiling_flesh, July 3rd, 2007

After hearing this demo I was amazed. I listened to it and though it was very horrible sounding. I've heard a lot of bad albums in my day, but this is somewhere near the top.

I'll start with instruments and vocals. The guitar was the first thing I was amazed about. I could barely even hear it. The drums and keyboard blasted out the sound of the guitar. The parts of the guitar I did hear were simple tremolo picking that did not sound good. I can't tell you about bass work, I couldn't hear any of it. The drums were a lot of heavy snare beating and a random symbol here and there. The keyboards were over powered by far. The song 'Sentence of Death' is a good example of the drum and keyboard situation. There is like five seconds of guitar work you can hear in there. The vocals are a whole other story, they actually do not sound bad. The singer has a good black metal style of singing going on. His voice fits the music, but the music needs some work.

I rate this demo at twenty-five percent for good reasons. This band needs alot of work. The distrubution of sound is way off. Once they get that fixed their sound will be a lot better, and all instruments will be heard.
