Sprawling is the best way to describe this epic debut from the short lived (and curiously named) 'Her Enchantment'. There is a little bit of everything in this album as they touch on many styles of Heavy Metal.
For starters the production is pretty good for a debut record. The guitars are epic right from the start. There is a lot of Melodic Death Metal in their riffs, but there is also a fair amount of modern Black Metal riffage as well. There are various leads thrown in for good measure.
The bass more or less follows the guitars. The drums are pretty good and keep things interesting for most of the album. They add a decent amount of bombast to the already epic feeling created by the guitars.
The vocals are a mixed bag as well. The Death vocals are standard but effective. There are some clean male vocals as well. The female vocals are either a selling point or a deterring point. She has a deeper voice than what’s usually expected of the fairer sex. Sometimes she falls out of key, others she is trying to hard.
Over all, this was a very enjoyable listen. The guitars are the true stars of the show as they honestly touch on everything from Thrash to Black to Death to Doom and it all blends well.
This is a recommended release to all Melodic Death/Black Metal fans.
