A very impressive debut - 90%

HavocHate have put out a truly excellent thrash album with This Violent Earth. They take influences of many old school thrash bands from Overkill to Destruction, meld with a very slight Pantera touch and there unique songwriting and make something that I will be listening to for a long time. I admit the lyrics can be silly, but to be honest, I really don’t listen to thrash for the lyrics. Freddy Ordine and Mario Rodriguez are quite talented guitar players and have written some very catchy thrashing riffs. Ovie Rodriguez’s drumming sets a superb pace to bang your head to and John Mallek (who is no longer in the band) has a pretty distinct voice. James Murphy produced this album, so that is a definite plus. “This Violent Earth”, “Kill or Be Killed”, and “Drenched in Sweat” are all great adrenalizing thrashers. I highly recommend this to fans of old school thrash.
