Gronibard - Gronibard

Bizarre, but surprisingly good! - 81%

MorbidAtheist666, November 30th, 2023

Gronibard started off as a joke band, but then they got somewhat serious with themselves. However, they say they don’t take things seriously and even consider themselves to be the worst band ever. They are definitely not the worst band ever, not even remotely. To me, they are one of the most interesting goregrind bands found in the goregrind realm. I would also consider them highly bizarre. There are pictures of them performing nude. They are a truly wild goregrind band. They are one of the only goregrind bands I know of that uses high pitch vocals. They even set the pitch shifter with high sound vocals on the songs Udufru and The Sound of Orange Juice Sloshing Around Your Coffee. The Sound of Orange Juice Sloshing Around Your Coffee sounds like a messed up chipmunk on a rampage.

Most of the songs on here are on the short side, they’re under 3 minutes. There’s some that are under a minute. Fragments of Corpse in My Bicky Burger is the longest song. However, it’s a short song with a sample and then silence. After the silence, there’s a hidden track. The hidden track is a bit pointless. Many of the song titles are in French. There’s also samples of people speaking in French. They are unique samples you will not find on any other goregrind recording. There’s songs that are quite dumb, it’s the songs that are under 45 seconds. The only good ones under 45 seconds long are The Kill and The Sound of Orange Juice Sloshing Around Your Coffee. The best song on here is Va faire la vaisselle. It has highly catchy vocals and guitar riffs. It could have been a hit viral hit over the internet if it was accompanied by a video.

The lead vocalist is known as Anal Capone. He has these low pitched inhuman vocals, because of the pitch shifter. He sounds like a monster on a rampage with those kind of vocals. He probably sounds terrifying to listeners who normally don’t listen to goregrind. He sounds fantastic on all of the songs he’s on. He sounds evil as well. I think Gronibard was aiming for those kind of vocals. Necronebourg is the other vocalist and he also plays guitar. I am guessing that Necronebourg provides the high pitch vocals. They sound a bit unusual in the songs, but they incredibly work out for some strange reason. The high pitch vocals kind of remind of Pinky of Pinky and The Brain found in the cartoon Animaniacs. They sound downright silly, but they don’t ruin the songs at all! The other instrumentalists provide backing vocals and they sound good. They really shine on Olé!, they are the only vocalists present on that song. Viens lŕ! suce ma bite! is another memorable one with their vocals.

The bass playing by Albatard is quite good. He’s talented with the bass. His best bass playing is found on Olé, Morceau en son clair, Mort fondu savoyarde and The Bloody Adventures of Menstruator. I love how the bass is audible. I usually don’t ever hear the bass in typical goregrind recordings. I can’t think any other goregrind band has audible bass. The guitar work by Necronembourg sounds pretty fierce, ferocious and violent. You should expect that from goregrind. However, he does some comical things on the guitar. He’ll throw in some unserious things with his guitar playing. He performs countless amounts of straight forward and memorable riffs. He doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary on guitar. The drumming by Godemichel sounds pretty brutal. He does some wicked fast drumming. He’s a beast on the drums. He blasts away and that’s typical for goregrind bands. He doesn’t do any drumming that stands out.

I’d recommend this one to diehard goregrind fans. As for those not familiar with goregrind, you might want to give this one a chance. I would say that metal listeners fluent in French will understand Gronibard. They will know what the people in the samples are saying. I’m guessing they’re comical samples, but I don’t know. If you’re super open-minded, I recommend this one to you. You might like this one a lot, you never know!
