Land of Tears 2003

First of all the sound production is crystal-clear, not much expected from a self-produced audio product. This fact permits the listener to follow Great American Desert's music in its entirety.

Technically adventurous in terms of guitar riffs and keyboard work, GAD achieve interesting passages throughout this 7-track cd. Another factor which caught my attention is the experimenting with "strange" tempos which add to the hypnotic effect which runs from one song to another. The vocals are something which need to be pointed out as well. In fact the vocals are very versatile; from the severely raw to the mild clean and complement the music quite well.

My favourite songs have to be 'Demon of the Sky' and 'Lamentations'. You find atmospheric, keyboard-borne passages just as well as more heavy, cold walls of noise, plus some fusion-like parts, making the whole thing not only quite original, but also interesting to hear.
