Gnostic - Isolate Gravity

Atheist? Nah....Awesome? Hell yeah - 96%

Fulgrum, July 4th, 2007

This is the second demo of the American band Gnostic. First I'd like to get over the Atheist-comparisation, this band features Steve Flynn, the almighty drumgod from Atheist, Chris B. and Sonny. C from the Atheist reunion. Therefor many people expected to hear 'the new Atheist' but received something great instead.

The demo starts with "Sleeping Ground", a straight-forward fast and hard song, after a couple of seconds you can hear that Steve still has the fingers to play this difficult choice of music while he is laying down some ripping rolls.
Kevin Freeman's hardcore-ish vocals makes the music sound much more aggressive which is a good thing. Now the second song "Life, Suffering" features some good creativity of these guys. Again this is a loud and fast song but at the end it suddenly slows down and we get to hear some really creative songwriting from all the members. In the last song "Isolate Gravety" it's not Flynn's who can show off all the time but the guitarists who get the chance to show how f***ing great they are, this song is less fast and aggressive but packed with great guitar and bass lines.

Overall, the production is really good, a bit louder than the first demo, it's a bit short but the songs are all killers and it's free for download so there's nothing to complain about!
