Fourth Dimension - Non-Physical Reality

"Fourth Dimension" was an experimental death metal band from Quebec. I don’t know what happened to them, but it seems that the members got tired of being able to feel things physically. Whenever they went to the local shop or store or restaurant, they always dropped something like a cup or always hurt themselves by accident. They got tired of that shit and decided to travel to another dimension... the fourth dimension!

They felt much better at this new place, and decided to make an album based on their new experience at this new dimension. They temporarily went to our dimension to get their instruments and to record the album. The sounds of the album is basically an idea of what they saw and felt at the dimension.

The introduction is completely dominated by the guitars. First we get a “synth” intro, which is actually a guitar with a pedal. When the other instruments join, an amazing guitar solo comes in. In fact, most solos on this album make Dragonforce sound like Limp Bizkit. After a brief instrumental, the vocals enter the dimension and I gotta say, these vocals are amazing. Old school growls, nothing too deep, keeping it human. The drummer knows how to keep it with the tempos and add flavour to the sound. The drum itself sounds great, it is a raw and underproduced sound that brings “humanity” to the album. Cool bass work too. Generally speaking, all instruments shine here.

One detail though, I hope they stopped abusing their guitars with tons of pedals. If you want to stop this horror please visit http://stopabusingguitarswithpedals.com/ for more details

All songs offer something that makes them stand out on their own. “Ruptured Lives” has the cool guitar intro, “Mind Glider” has an agressive riff paired with insane drumming as an outro, “Non-Physical Reality” has a really tasty riff, and “De-vice” has a groovy riff that answers the question of “What if Six Feet Under was good?”". The last track is the least experimental, yet it is still insane.

It seems that the band members decide to stay in the fourth dimension and never return to our dimension, because they decided to stop releasing music altogether. That being said, one of the members still keeps contact with the earth by playing in another band called “Fuck the Facts”.

I hope they are having fun, wherever they are...
