I took Fomento’s disc in my hands with high expectations, mostly because it looked nice. There is a legionary’s helmet on the copper-colored cover, and the title of the release is „Either Caesars or Nothing”. Before my mind’s eye immediately appeared Kataklysm's also Rome-oriented classic album „The Poetry of War”.
Unfortunately my expectations proved too high, and the promising cover turned out to hide quite mediocre music. There’s actually nothing wrong with this from beginning to end midpaced thrashcore; it’s just that it’s boring, dull and idealess. The guitars are correctly buzzing but are playing nothing noteworthy; the vocalist performs the same soar screaming throughout, and I miss the strength and empathy from it.
The only good song on this release is the eleventh one, „The Egyptian March”. This is also the only track where something can be felt from the Roman concept; proud, marching song with a somewhat Eastern-flavored main theme. Actually the other tracks aren’t bad either; the problem is that while listening to only one at once the music feels kick-ass, it grows old by listening just two in a row. It is to no aid that the sound is as strong as an ox, nor that the artwork is of high quality. There is nothing on this album other than that one track which could raise it above the average. It can be skipped safely.
