Flesh Grinder - S.P.L.A.T.T.E.R.

Pungent Deathgrind Delight - 97%

Disengorge, November 21st, 2023

Flesh Grinder is an extremely/semi-extremely underground grindgore band in search of deathmetal-rooted apparatus of ecophonous grindcore, as FG's main guru-like main full-length, S.P.L.A.T.T.E.R embraces grind with death metal as its parents, and the majority of its influences and inner elements were taken from mucilous grindcore/goregrind/(whatever)grind bands like Carcass, Exhumed, and Haemorrhage, with its most similar and main influence being Carcass and Haemorrhage.

Beneath suppuration and putrefying oeuvres, with the combination of track Stomachal Emanation with the later cacophony, Chronic [...] forms an outro-intro effect, like that one made by Carcass between their not-too-infamous tracks, Genital Grinder to Regurgitation of Giblets. All the arguments against grindcore, that "it doesn't need talent", well, Flesh Grinder is a seminal grindcore band in Brazil, but it has a technical embrace, like for the solo of Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis. After this disgusting vile, we finally got the most expected one, S.P.L.A.T.T.E.R. This goddamn song embraces and has influences of whatever you think of, Cannibal Corpse. Fuck yeah, Carcass? Fuck yeah too, Suffocation? Fuck yeah, and accept it on your knees.

There's only ONE, literally, ONE SECTION that I dislike; it's the intro for Techniques to Extract the Female Reproductive System Thru Anal Canal, though it's melodic, its rhythm doesn't help; it seems off-rhythm. This specific track is also larvae-home to melodic sections, harmonies, and dual-layered guitars and vocals. What helps in the atmosphere is the reverb, but what improves it much better are the thematics. You don't even need to listen to the album to realize this album is sick. Looking at the album cover, a persona that seems like an old man skinned, what makes it more macabre, is that these corpses and gory images are real, combining with the fact that there was a rumor that the band was involved in cannibalism, which makes me ask myself every time I listen to any song by Flesh Grinder. But besides those possibly fake rumors, I adore the sound of the band as a whole, from its first demo to the modern days.
