Flaskavsae is a relatively well-known figure in the super underground 'unblack' metal scene. This is the album that started him off in the directions to come. Eight frosty tracks of super lo-fi, melodic blasting madness. According to the liner notes, this album was originally recorded in 2005 and never released until 2007.
Fast, complex d-beat black metal drumming, ultra buzzy, smeared guitar work and roaring effects-laden vocals (that sound more like a bear or lion than human). The music could be best described as early Darkthrone (think Transylvanian Hunger) with Xasthur on vocals. Seven out of the eight tracks on the disc are buzzing, blasting brutality with the exception of the super-minimal instrumental track 'Mythos Unseen', which consists of chorus saturated feedback swells and choppy wah-infused clean guitar (better fitting on some indie rock record) but is a nice break in all the blasting mayhem of the rest of the record.
One of the highlights of the record is the super catchy guitar work. Very minimal and basic, but incredibly melodic which help give the songs a much more memorable quality as opposed to just continually blasting haphazard, discordant licks throughout the disc. The guitar tone is incredibly dense on this album as well; super blown-out, buzzy, compressed and incredibly loud. Another big up on the record is the quality of the drum work, lots of weird math-y switch-ups and drum fills. The lock tightness of the drumming could almost make it seem mechanical, but the fluidity and movement of the pounding rhythmic insanity makes it sound otherwise.
An amazing debut recording, which also sounds eerily 'seasoned', as if this was no beginners recording. All of the songs fit well together and are instantly memorable with much lasting impression upon one's mind. Definitely recommended for fans of blasting black (or unblack) metal melodically infused chaos!!!!
