Eternal Suffering - Drowning in Tragedy

GRINDING CRUSHING BRUTALITY - 95%

AriesWarlock, July 10th, 2003

Let me start this review by saying that this album is really fucking good. Eternal Suffering is an amazing band that plays death metal/grindcore, or as the booklet says, "GRINDING CRUSHING BRUTALITY."

Musically speaking this band is superb. The guitars are very brutal and the songs are filled with very powerful, heavy, and diverse riffs. The drumming is fast, precise, and varied – this latter one being a very important characteristic as many brutal death metal bands have a fast but repetitive drumming which becomes just plain monotone, this being the case with bands like Nile. In respect to the technical aspect, the songs are very well elaborated, filled with many details that make songs very appealing to the ear. The songs are carefully embellished with rhythms and melodies that are original and complex, so those who believe that this genre is way too saturated with bands that sound very alike to others need to check out this album right now! Also they have covered that song that appears on ROCKY called T.T.P., which I like but it is a bit sloppy, I think the song could have been more elaborated a bit more.

This album is extremely brutal, fast, and definitely not for everyone, so if you are into brutal music then DO check this album out. I wonder what happened to this band. They have been inactive for almost five years. Not even their web page is updated. What could have happened to such great band? Who knows, but I do know this album kicks royal ass! I like it a lot, and I think the musical content is high quality. Get this album or die!
