Eternal Mystery / Rehumanize / Long Suffering - 4-Way Noise Explosion

3 parts good, 1 part utter crap - 75%

This split is rather...interesting. If you're intro Christian grindcore/noiscore of sorts, than I'd recommend you look into this. If you're a hardcore satanist, I doubt you'd like this split. It's basically a 'Fuck you' to Satan and anti-Christian views. Though, I'm not a Christian, I can still listen to it because lyrical themes don't mean much to me.

We'll start this review off with Eternal Mystery's side. Broc usually doesn't sway from his ordinary routine when it comes to his music. His riffs are heavy, but not extremely fast. They have a nice thick tone, which just makes the music more skull-rattling. They come off sounding like modern death metal. The drum machine is also the norm for Broc. There's nothing slow (or human) about them for the most part. He uses mostly insane blast beats. His vocals have changed a little, as he uses a bit of a new style. The vocals are the biggest change in this release. He uses a different exhale style vocal style, and it sounds very good. It's a big shift from the gurgles that he used on his other releases.

Next, we move on to Rehumanize. Rehumanize also features Broc, so the guitar style is a given. He has the same tone as in Eternal Mystery. Though, Rehumanize is a lot different. Rehumanize is more goregrind styled grindcore, rather than Eternal Mystery style. Phil Diez uses mostly pitch-shifted vocals, and also some higher pitched grunts. The drum is also programmed a bit different to fit the grindcore styling. In short, Rehumanize is aimed at being more goregrind than anything else.

Third on the split, we cover Long Suffering. Long Suffering is very noisy and chaotic. The guitar lines are very fast, and simplistic. The riffs are very distorted as well, and don't be expecting guitar solos, this is a grindcore band. The drumming is actually real, and sounds good. The drum lines are very fast, and fit the music well. The vocals contain high pitched screams, mid-ranged grunts, and pitch shifted gurgles. The variation in these sounds good. This band also uses a fair number of intro clips on their side of the split. Also, I find it cool that Raymond Banda was in Phobia at one point in time.

Last on this big review we have Corpse Under Construction. You see, bands like this make grindcore look horrible, especially Christian grindcore. Christian grindcore is still disliked by many, so they really don't need bands like this trying to forward the scene. Musically, it's worse than Satanic Destroyer, Assembly Terminal, and Slaughter by the Scythe thrown into a blender and molded into one band. There isn't even any guitar lines, which is a good thing. If they played guitar, it would be horrible anyways. The vocals are so atrocious it's hard for me to put into words. They are distorted, pitch-shift yells that make your ears bleed. The drum programming is about as bad as the vocals. This band tries so hard to be good, but they fail so hard.

All in all, this is a decent split if you can get past the lyrical themes. Like I said in the title, this is 3 parts good, 1 part utter crap. I'd suggest you buy this because of Rehumanize, Eternal Mystery, and Long Suffering. Their sides of this split are actually enjoyable. I'd suggest you delete Corpse Under Construction's side so your ears aren't raped.
