Eternal Grave - Obras de una mente enferma

Not bad but too similar..... - 70%

BioDeath, December 4th, 2005

For those people who don´t know them, Eternal Grave is a ten years old Death Metal band in the under scene in Argentina.
This album called "Obras de una mente enferma" ("Works of a sick mind") is an interesting release: from the biginning to the end we can hear pure and genuine Death Metal, this means extremely fast music, dense guitars, shooting drums, rotted voices and gore lyrics.
The main problem of this band is their influence: they are too similar to Cannibal Corpse and they are far to make something new or original. May be we can say that they translate the Cannibal Corpse´s message into the Spanish Language.
Songs like "Penetrando a Úrsula" ("Penetrating Úrsula"), "Virgen no morirás" ("You won´t die Virgin"),which according to one of the musicians is a "little revenge against a past affaire" , "Sádico Placer" ("Sadic Pleasure"), "Cardiofagia", "Saborea mi Carne" ("Taste my flesh"), "Síndrome de Reinfeld" ("Reinfeld´s Syndrome") and "Vacío tu interior" ("To drain your interior") make a psycho atmosphere, and summon the old cannibal Corpse: blood, mutilation, torture and pervertions.
The song "Crisalida" makes reference of the internal struggles of these created characters.
"Nazareno" is an antichrist song and "Pus" is a instrumental grindcord song.

Conslusion: Is a good LP, is a pure Death metal album, with explicit Lyrics, very fast and brutal voices, not much to say about a classical death metal band, but may be they have to be more original and try to find an own style, they sing in Spanish and that´s good to the genre, in my opinion is for those sick minds who love gore and this kind of themes.
