Beneath the stars would be the latest single release by the Indonesian band Dry. In case the information at the Metal Archives is correct, then over twenty years have passed since it had been founded, but judging from the search engine results of the God of the Internet, they do not seem to have left a clear mark. Sadly, this latest output does undoubtedly not help their cause; even though it is available as a free download from their MySpace entry.
Some sample taken from a movie soundtrack opens this release, while the music later progresses into some monotonous drum driven slightly aggressive black metal. Dissection, Dark Funeral and other come to the mind. Quite solid would it not be for the annoying drum-thing in the background, which ruins everything. The production had a negligible impact here, because it not so much the sound but rather the way this instrument is played. Variation is key here.
Dry follow a done to death made scheme and not even of a remarkable quality. Exotic … maybe for a new band, but most certainly not for someone whose early days date back over two decades.
