Demo Tape! - 90%

AxlFuckingRose, December 7th, 2021

It would have been nice to get a full-length album from these guys. Their version of thrash metal is nothing spectacular but it certainly has an edge to it that sounds pretty likable on this demo. "Dreams of Supremacy" opens this record up with blazing speed and Chuck Miles screaming like a madman, but it sounds epic! This band is in many ways a post-Anvil Bitch project but their sound is a little bit different, it sounds cleaner and maybe a touch more aggressive.

What is appealing about this demo is that the production does not sound of demo quality at all. "Explicit Termination" is a phenomenal song with a slow-picked intro that bleeds into the heart of a thrashy monster of a song. They sound a bit like Dark Angel the way they throw riff after riff at you over some pretty creative drum patterns. This track, and really the demo as a whole, can truly be seen as a symbol for the thrash movement as a whole. There were so many great bands that quality stuff like this never even made it out of the underground (though I think this demo is an exception- they just got unlucky, because anyone with the right ear would know there's something here).

The riffs on this demo tape are great, and the vocals sound pretty menacing but not overbearing. For the most part, the singer lets the instruments do the work, which is the best thing a thrash frontman can do. The way the band changes tempo as the solo winds around dozens of different notes (though sometimes he loses control and misses a note or two) is just phenomenal. These guys sound like a unit, and it must have been a treat to see them live. The band closes with "Liquid Remains" here, a pretty catchy track but admittedly probably the worst of the four (even if the main riff kicks ass, it does sound the least original). This demo is still a fantastic collection and worth picking up or checking out online if you have twenty minutes to spare.
