Demo 2008

Divus Kirus is a Christian death/thrash band from Venezuela, you may not be aware of this, but there are a lot of christian bands in the venezuelan metal movement at the moment and Divus Kirius easily is one of the best. When other bands play generic death metal or even the trendy metalcore, these guys can really deliver the amount of riffs, solos and brutality that most metalheads need, for example, the opening track of this Demo "Al Diablo con el Diablo" (To hell with the devil, yeah, not the most creative name) is one of the strongest songs, here we can listen to some groove/death riffing, leads, and low vocals, think of Lamb of Good with lesser production and without the unnecesary chugging, overall this song has a good energy and is a great intro track that will keep you headbanging for three minutes.

Moving on, the song "El Dia Final" starts out, nothing really stands out here, average death/thrash riffing/drumming, with the excepcion of some cool leads/soloing, all the next songs are pretty much in the same vein, but, with a diferent guitar work, some may have a "Diminished" vibe, others a "Melodic" one, the song "Guerrera de la Luz" has the classic thrash metal solo at the end of it, loads of wah and triads, but not overly used.

There is not much left to say about this demo, we have a some good moments, others not that much, the drums could be more variated, the production could be done better, and the songwriting can improve, but hey, this was just the starting point, the band recently released a video and said that is working on their debut, I see a lot of potential here!
