When the Tomb Beckons....

This is an fairly enjoyable album, and done well considering this is very underground. Not to typical (but hey this is early 90's underground Death Metal so you got to factor that in to) this album holds its own. Lots of very technical solos, and riffs. One down side to this album is the way too down tuned guitars, but this does provide a great back drop for the solos to shine upon (which are a highly redeeming factor). The tempo's really jump around on all the songs, and most are fairly lenghty so you get either bored, or entertained (this epitomizes average some what original Death Metal so its really not for every one).

The vocals are good, ranging from pretty ordinary deep growls, to your, again, average higher pitched screams (which almost remind alittle of Hypocrissy, but far, far less produced). Not much to be blowen away by, but well executed, and arranged decently. The lyrics are some what original, not theme wise, but as far as writing style goes they arent to shabby. Not exactly to my taste, but I have read much worse from way more successfull bands.

The overall sound reminds me of alot of some random JL America releases, but not exact replicas of any bands to my knowledge so its hard to say who would be very similiar. I can hear a little of some Incatation similiarities, but this band is quite a bit more thrashy. So I guess alls I can say is these are Mexicans playing the music they love, and doing a respectable job at it.

There are some great harmonies on here, as well as great riffs that one could easily bang his head to. Another high light is the very talented drummer who equally adds a great prospect of talent to this band. As far as I know this is their only release, and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a copy I'd recommend picking it up for the sheer fact that this is pretty rare, and would be very hard to find if you went out looking for this particular recording. Not much above mediocre, since I hear nothing at all ground breaking here, but for true fans of Death Metal who want a piece of obscure history.
