Delirium X Tremens - CyberHuman

Good technique but that's not enough... - 54%

I remember this promo EP was given to me at Wacken by the guitarist and I was quite astonished about this strange meet amongst thousands of people. Anyway I was so curious about this group and I listened to it while I was going back home. Their style is a mix of different kinds of metal, not just death metal. We can find quite modern-mid paced tempos in “1000 Wolves”, with melodic riffs and Death oriented solos in Sound Of Perseverance style.

The “Science” track is a bit more aggressive but without fast tempos. The drums work is strange and a bit progressive. The guitars are always dissonant and the vocals on standard growl. What I didn’t like were the “stopped tempos”, very similar to nu metal…and the repetition bores me quite easily. “Delirium 9991” is a quite good instrumental one with melodic guitars. “…Inside Me” is again groove-slow “death metal”. The bass sound is very good, a bit more perceptible but the rest is quite unexciting, even with more tempo changes and quite obscure guitar sounds.

“Cyberhuman” is very Fear Factory oriented with more speed in the tempos but always with a shadow of nu metal…surely the genre chosen by this band is not so easy to be done or heard and someone could not agree with my review but I must admit that these songs are quite boring. It’s a pity because you can really hear the group’s skills but that’s not enough to create an obscure and good songwriting at the same time.
