Disciples of the Ultimate Void

Thankfully in future releases this band increases the quality in their production. This demo is horrible. It is every bad aspect of black metal put on to one demo. The songs are unoriginal and all sound exactly the same. This demo offers few redeeming qualities.

The drums are repetitive and annoying. In some sections it sounds like he is just beating on the same drum as fast as he can with no concern for rhythm. The blast beats are repetitive, poorly played and downright distracting. The demo features many lukewarm tremolo riffs played with a horrible screeching guitar tone. The vocals are also very bad. It sounds like someone regurgitating their guts. No, not in a good way. They sound like a very weak attempt at sounding grim. The songs feature almost no variety and leave you with a headache.

"The Ancient Presence Revealed" has the only good riff on the entire demo. Unfortunately this riff is butchered by poor production and annoying filler played in between the riff. This song also features an unfortunate death grunt that is almost bad enough to be featured on Six Feet Under's new album. I do like it when they slow down a bit, but in the end it is nothing more than a weak Burzum rip off. In fact, this whole demo is nothing but a weak Burzum rip off. Only Burzum sounds like Burzum, you guys sound like crap.

This demo really has no reason to be listened to. It was obviously before they learned to play together as a band. If you are interested in listening to this to discover the band's roots, don't bother. This may be kvlt or whatever the black metal elitists say these days, but it completely lacks originality and quality.
