Step through the time portal of blasphemy if you dare because this beast of a release lurks in the shadows and waits to annihilate all in its path. The golden age of death metal has been revisited but this time with a stellar production and oozing with atmosphere.
Death vomit conjure up 11 tracks of ancient death metal on Spain's most successful label of all time Xtreem Music. Dave Rotten must have been banging his head endlessly in the studio whilst recording his latest signing as this album restores the ancient ways of how death metal should be played. No "bells and whistles" here my friend as this album is void of any sort of pretty melodies. There is a festering atmosphere throughout this album, not created by any keyboards mind you, just by pure production genius. It’s nothing short of outstanding and is totally raw in its delivery. A guitar distortion like this can only be achieved in the cesspool commonly known as South America. One feels it’s been recorded in a dungeon yet all instruments are clearly audible. It doesn't even sound possible yet I’m holding the product in my hand. How many bands out there would kill for such a sound yet their record labels all wimp out and cleans up the entire recording. Not Death Fucking Vomit, these scumbags have nailed it.
The opening track starts is a musical intro that slowly gains momentum and when track 2 bursts forth you know this is going to be an excruciating ride. The rhythm section is tight as fuck with dual guitar attacks aplenty and is a ruthless affair. This is the album highlight if you ask me. Not to be outdone the lead work here is also blitzkrieg. Nothing outstanding but very punishing enough to make your ears bleed. The timing of the leads is what makes it so special. Just when things need that injection of venom there’s an explosion of sound through your already tortured speakers. This approach makes it insanely good and truly memorable. Very reminiscent of some of the best death/thrash bands from back in the day. This fits right in with the short song structures and the album comes to an end in just under 38 minutes. Invoke the dark age evermore
You are either going to love or hate the vocals. This is not for the faint hearted and I happen to be a huge fan. How you secure a sound like this in a studio is beyond me. It sounds like it’s been recorded in a cave and I mean that in the best possible way. Lots of vocal revert present throughout the album and Azazzel's vocal grunts certainly add the signature touches to an already outstanding album. It has been a long while since I heard a record in this genre that reeks of putrefaction like this one does. A truly unknown band delivering a truly remarkable album here. Satan is most certainly pleased
