Short, Powerful, Promising - 80%

Eltara, December 27th, 2008

I'd never heard of Deafening until I accidentally stumbled upon them on here. I checked the site, noticed some songs were up for download and decided to check them out. I'm listening to them now and it makes me feel good.

There's little to say as this demo only has four songs, but what I've got to say is all positive. Now, what have we here on this demo? Let me tell you what we have. Deafening is a heavy metal/hard rock outfit that knows how to write powerful songs. Sure, if you're looking for a unique band, this isn't your stop, because they wear their influences on their sleeves. But if you're looking for straightforward music that allows for maximum volume and maximum satisfaction, you've found it.

This is twenty minutes of excellent guitar play, nothing fancy, nothing over-the-top, accompanied with excellent vocals, full of emotion and power. This is a promise for the future, the first signs of a band that can make it, given the chances. Go and download this demo on their website and listen for yourself, you simply have to have listened to this band before you continue your music listening experience.
