Disillusion

It’s been a few years, but Deafening have released new material again. This EP once again shows what I have come to recognize as their typical sound, but also brings something new to the table. The music is once more your heavy metal without too much ado. A simple but captivating sound that doesn’t aim for speed or volume, but just to bring you that certain vibe.


The way this EP opens definitely convinced me of the quality of this release. “Taste Your Love” takes advantage of everything this band has to offer and promises nothing less than the best. And indeed, by the time you’re into “No Time to Lose”, you know that this band has what it takes to bring you top-quality heavy metal.


These days you usually have two options: you either listen to old-school heavy metal, brought to you by bands from the 80’s or the occasional new band that just sounds as if they lived in that era. Or you listen to modern heavy metal, which often doesn’t sound anything like what you’d associate heavy metal with. This band brings you something better. They play a sound that obviously has its influences from the old days, but the end result is something modern, something that’s most certainly alive. A must-have for any heavy metal fan who is always looking for the newest band.

I will definitely keep an eye out for this band and eagerly await the day they release their first full-length.
