This is an example of nicely done melodic death metal with touch of doom metal. The music of Daylight Dies will appeal to fans of Swedish melodic death metal, and fans of mid- era Katatonia (Brave Murder Day). Fans of Opeth, Insomnium, and similar other bands should check this band out. Daylight Dies has excellent quality music with feeling, and passion, which is necessary part of the genre. Riffing and soloing is very elegant, and for me personally, is the highlight of the following work. Some of the riffs have doom metal feeling, but the music based around melodic death metal. They also let the listener relax, and through piano instrumental, which fits the mood of the whole mini album.
The other good thing about Daylight Dies, that they have no metalcore influences. There is no whiny chorus, silly breakdowns, absence of solos, poppy melodies, and emo attitude. In my opinion, metalcore is a very weak and pathetic genre with a lot of crappy artists, trends, and formulaic pop music songwriting. Musicians of the reviewed band avoid this trash, and write real metal with no mall core elements. Kids who think that Killswitch Engage, and As I Lay Dying are real metal bands theoretically have chance to get some music schooling by checking Daylight Dies music. Overall, this is excellent release, and listen their albums many times, and I never got tired.
